Kidi.lv is a non-commercial private project of a single developer. It is completely free and its purpose is to serve as an interactive educational games webpage that a pre-school child can enjoy without adult supervision. Content safety is achieved by zero advertisement and no personal data entry policy. Another special feature is the use of the local language, as the texts and speech of the games and interface are made completely in Latvian to support the children of a small nation with very few options to play online games in their native language. Kidi.lv has no funding, and the whole project is being developed in spare time using the available resources.

What is your / your institution´s interest /objective for being part of POSCON?

I would like to share my ideas, knowledge and experience concerning children-related electronic content in the public media. Also, I would like to meet people, get to know how others plan and execute their projects, and possibly learn new ways of doing things.

What is your / your institution´s interest regarding positive content in general?

As a father of two, I’ve found that there is almost no content for a safe, free, online entertainment, specifically in the Latvian language. I’m interested in providing such services for my own and other people’s kids. That's why kidi.lv was created and is still being developed.

What are your wishes regarding positive content and services for children?

The main difficulty of creating a safe content for children lies with funding solutions, because the most popular form of fundraising is advertising, which cannot exist in an environment that would be completely safe for children. I would like to see developers acknowledge that and think of some other way of making their commercial products profitable. Also I would like to see developers give up some of their profit by adapting their content to be also used by children who speak less popular languages.
