The Czech National Safer Internet Centre (NCBI) is a non-profit organisation, which promotes safer use of the internet among children and youth through educational competitions, seminars and conferences organised during the year. In 2011, the NCBI became a member of the Czech nationwide network of information centres for youth. This allows to disseminate safer internet issues through the 40 organisations, members of the network, which work with children and youth in their leisure time.

The NCBI was active during 2012 at the European level through its participation in the INSAFE and INHOPE networks and also in other relevant projects such as the Social Web-Social Work project, and the thematic network POSCON, where is NCBI involved as a partner.

What is your / your institution´s interest /objective for being part of POSCON?

The objective of the Czech National Safer Internet Centre (NCBI) for being part of POSCON is to engage general public to be more interested in positive and entertaining online content for youth. In spite of the fact that significant part of the online users are young people and children, the online content is mostly focused on adults. In connection with the POSCON project we would like to offer rules and criteria for suitable positive online content to ISP’s, content providers and web creators as well as youth and children, which help all these stakeholders prepare and run better online environment.

What is your / your institution´s interest regarding positive content in general?

The overall objective of the Czech National Safer Internet Centre (NCBI) is to promote safer use of the internet and other communication technologies, to educate especially children how to use online technologies in a safe way. In the frame of these activities NCBI runs website http://prodeti.ncbi.cz (For children – positive content). This website is mainly focused on children and parents and would like to show them which kind of web activities and content should fulfill their expectations regarding positive and entertaining content.

What are your wishes regarding positive content and services for children?

Regarding our activities in the frame of Safer Internet SIC programme we would like to offer youth and children list of modern, entertaining and amusing websites, which could give them opportunities of spending time online in reasonable way. We would like to show parents and teachers that online environment is not only for adults and provide them with the opportunity to show young people, which kind of website content is suitable for them. We would like to give all audience the chance to know how to develop children´s talent in a positive way. We would like to show all content providers that we all are responsible for creating safer and non-harmful content for youth from very beginning of their online activities.
